People’s Deputy of Ukraine Andrii Derkach, the initiator of a criminal case on interference in the US elections, has disclosed documents from which it follows that First Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Gizo Uglava has been providing information to the US Embassy in Kyiv for several years, that negatively effected the course of events in Ukraine and the US.
At a press-conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Wednesday, he disclosed documents received from investigative journalists, including correspondence between NABU employees and representatives of diplomatic missions of foreign countries in the framework of criminal proceedings opened under Article 111 of the Criminal Code (high treason). In particular, the documents that the People’s Deputy has, indicated that Uglava passed on information to the US Embassy through his assistant Polina Chyzh, which in his opinion was an important part of the “puzzle” of US election interference and international corruption.
According to Derkach, he has already transmitted these documents to the State Bureau of Investigation (STI) and the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine. The parliamentarian also initiated the creation of a temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada and petitioned the court to relaunch the investigation on the interference into the US election by announcing the pre-trial investigation.
“According to the correspondence, the lists of criminal proceedings that NABU detectives are dealing with were sent repeatedly starting from July 14, 2017 from the e-mail of Polina Chyzh, Assistant of First Deputy NABU Gizo Uglava, to Anna Yemelyanova, the Legal Affairs Specialist at the US Department of Justice’s Anti-Corruption Program” Derkach said.
Derkach released a letter in which NABU employee Polina Chyzh was instructed by US Embassy employee Anna Yemelyanova to provide information on the case of ex-Minister of Environment and Burisma Group owner Mykola Zlochevsky.
The MP also made public the amount of money that was transferred to Burisma Group representatives, including Hunter Baiden. According to the documents, in total, no less than $16.5 million was paid to Hunter Baiden, Alexander Kwasniewski, Alan Apter and Devon Archer.
At the same time, Derkach claims that international corruption of this magnitude could not have taken place without the participation of the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“We see the conflict that the new government of Ukraine has come into due to the previous President Poroshenko. I want to emphasize that I am almost certain and not only me, but also many journalists, that the current situation in Ukraine is responsibility of Petro Poroshenko – for involving Ukraine in interfering in the US presidential election, for the huge amount of corruption scandals and international corruption that could not have taken place without his control or participation”, said People’s Deputy Andrii Derkach at a press conference.
“Due to the actions of the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the new President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has been involved in a scandal with interference in the election of the US President and in the fact that Ukraine is accused of international corruption”, – said Derkach.
Derkach also disclosed documents of unlawful, as he claims, collection of personal information about former Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin and his family by NABU’s.
According to the press release, “since 2016, Polina Chyzh has emailed Gizo Ugovla documents with the subject line: “Text for an interview with FBI officers on the “black bookkeeping” of Party of Regions”. According to him, the data shows that the former Prosecutor General was collecting data of Victor Shokin and his wife.
According to a press release, Derkach initiated the removal of Polina Chyzh, Assistant of First Deputy NABU Director Gizo Uglava, from her duties during the investigation.
Derkach also noted that he had filed a lawsuit to reopen the US election interference case by announcing pre-trial data concerning “the synchronization of NABU’s illegal activities, international corruption with the 2016 US presidential campaign”. The hearing will take place on October 21.
“As a result of my petition in 2017, criminal proceedings were registered. On January 28 this year a senior investigator of the General Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office issued a resolution to close this criminal proceeding. We are currently appealing this ruling in Pechersk court in civil proceedings on October 21”, explained Derkach.
